DESCRIPTION

Designed By Jonathan Ingham

The key to our set for OKLAHOMA! is in the opening number, “Oh What a Beautiful Morning”, a celebration of the light, space and colour of the story and it’s setting.

The FARMHOUSE and SKIDMORE PORCH are stylised elemental units, set against panoramic sky backcloths.

The SMOKE HOUSE and SKIDMORE KITCHEN PORCH scenes use trucked units.

To concentrate the attention for these more intimate scenes, they are set downstage in front of more ambiguous cloths.

The GROVE ON LAUREY’S FARM, is a stylised flown tree unit, with a sky seen through a foliage backcloth. The scene is transformed by backlighting for the nightmarish DREAM BALLET.

In ACT TWO scene 3, to create the illusion of an upstairs window it is set at 7’. This means the minimum of a climb is necessary to peer into the window and for Aunt Eller to look out.

A SURREY, ALI HAKIM’S CART AND TABLE FOR JUD’S SHACK are all provided with the set.

*PLEASE NOTE THE LANTERNS SHOWN IN ACT TWO SCENE 1 ARE NOT PROVIDED*

Should you have any queries about the set, please do not hesitate to contact PROSCENEIUM.
